HOW TO REPORT A COMPUTER CRIME
Have you ever deleted or lost a file and wished that you could get it back? Most people would tell you to use an undelete tool, but they are only partially effective and require that the disk directory entry hasn't been overwritten yet. File Carving tools are the next step in data recovery. They recover files when all other tools fail.
I'll step through the differences, what tools are available and what's coming in the future. Whether you are a digital investigator, in IT, a lawyer or someone who may want to get their files back some day, this presentation will show you what's really going on behind those tools.
