Public Article and Member Only Knowledge Base Guidelines


Submit Articles Here


ASDFED invites articles covering a wide range of topics within digital forensics, eDiscovery, digital evidence, incident response, and cybersecurity topics. It encourages software articles, which include topics such as file systems, file partitions, or forensics related software. Hardware articles are also accepted when related to data storage or hardware imaging or processing devices. To streamline the submission process, please adhere to the following guidelines.


Submission Format:

  • Articles should be submitted via the online form.
  • Ensure that the data is single-spaced.


Article Structure:

  • Title: Insert a descriptive title while minimizing the length. (2–12 words).
  • Abstract: Begin the article with a concise abstract or summary (50-100 words). Required only for Knowledge Base Articles.
  • Body: Aim for a word count of 500 to 2,000 words; however it is flexible. Submit what you have, and we will review.
    • Clearly divide the article into sections with headings for easy navigation.
    • Include subheadings where applicable to enhance organization
    • End the article with a conclusion or key takeaways.
  • References: Include as appropriate.


Language/Multi-part:

  • Articles should be submitted in English, with attention to clarity and correctness.
  • Muti part articles are allowed; however divide them into logical sections and submit each section separately. Clearly label the article as part 1, par 2 and so on.


Images and Multimedia:

  • If relevant, include high-quality images, charts, or graphs as separate files, name the files Figure 1, 2 and so on then insert the words [Figure 1, 2 and so on] into the desired location within the article. (Our editors reserve the right to make modifications and to add or delete images as needed.)
  • Provide captions for all visuals and ensure proper attribution for borrowed images.


Citations and References:

  • Cite sources using a consistent citation style (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago).
  • Include a reference list or bibliography at the end of the article, if needed.


Originality and Plagiarism:

  • Submitted articles must be original and not published elsewhere.
  • Properly attribute any external sources, quotes, or references to avoid plagiarism.


Submission Process:

  • Submit your article via the submission page.
  • Include your full name, contact information, and a brief bio in the body of the email.
  • Use the subject line: "ASDFED Article Submission: [Your Article Title]."



Review Process:

  • Submitted articles will undergo a review process by our editorial team.
  • Authors will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their submission within [specify time frame].



Rights and Permissions:

  • By submitting an article, authors grant ASDFED the right to publish and distribute the content.
  • Authors retain the copyright to their work and can republish it elsewhere after initial publication with ASDFED.

  • Authors will be acknowledged within the article and on the ASDFED website.



Feedback and Engagement:

  • Encourage readers to provide feedback and comments on published articles.
  • Authors are invited to engage with the ASDFED community through discussions and responses to comments.


Community Guidelines:

  • Articles should adhere to ASDFED's community guidelines, promoting respectful and constructive discussions.
  • Avoid any content that may be considered offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate.


Updates and Corrections:

  • Authors are encouraged to notify ASDFED of any updates or corrections to their published articles.
  • Corrections will be made promptly, with a note indicating the changes made.

  • ASDFED reserves the right to reject submissions that do not comply with these guidelines.
  • The organization is not responsible for the opinions expressed in the articles.
