Topic:  Moving Digital Evidence the Right Way

Moving evidence sounds like a simple and easy task; however, if you don’t do it correctly, you could create problems for yourself and your clients.  The windows copy command does not validate that data has been copied correctly.  This means it could appear to copy and leave only corrupted data at the destination.  Also using windows copy will change a file's creation and last access date and time stamp in most cases.  All of these are bad when it comes to handling digital evidence.  This presentation will cover a FREE utility, which you can use to move evidence from one location to the next, create a MD5 or SHA hash and a log file.  Come join us to learn how to preserve your digital evidence.
