The Metro Atlanta
ISSA is collaborating with local ASDFED, NCMS, and OWASP chapters to bring you the Southeast's most comprehensive security training event of the year.

Three diverse yet complementary security groups are providing events, speakers and attendee groups, so this will be two days packed full of education and insight. As the theme suggests, an important goal of the conference is to foster a mindset of making information security a fundamental building block of organizations and programs from the outset. Security should be a cornerstone, not an afterthought.

Conference offerings include: informational sessions, industry expert panels, workshops and peer discussion forums. Events provide value for security professionals across the spectrum. Tracks cover administration, technology, and laws and compliance.

In addition to the regular conference track offerings, the Metro-Atlanta ISSA chapter has worked out an arrangement with SANS to have two 3-hour courses taught on November 8th at no additional cost to registrants other than the cost of conference registration.  This will be the SANS SEC464 course:  “Hacker Detection for Systems Administrators”; however, don’t let the title fool you.  This course will be tailored to benefit the IT Security Professional as opposed to the SysAdmin.  The course will be hands on so bring a laptop.  SANS course material will be distributed at the registration desk the day of the conference.  We will start accepting registrations for the first course that will take place on Tuesday, November 8th from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.  Once that course has filled to capacity we will release the registration code for the second course from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.   Please see the description as offered by SANS and be sure to register for the conference (if you haven’t already) before attempting to register for the SANS SEC464 course.   Also, stay for the SANS COINS event the evening of November 8th that will be open from 5:30-8:30PM.  If you haven’t been to a COINS event then be prepared for a treat.

Bring your laptop and join SANS for an exciting hands-on lab session that will explore Network Security from the perspective of YOU, the Human Sensor.  Security is an important challenge for organizations. Perimeters are routinely being breached, and attackers often roam through networks for weeks or months on end, often without discovery.   This session will guide you on how to discover evidence of intruder activity and demonstrates how to work effectively with your organization's security professionals and provides tools that you can put to work immediately.  This course is a 3 hour condensed course of SANS "Hacker Detection for Systems Administrators with Continuing Education Program." The advanced portions of the course have been extracted to appeal to the security professional.  The link to the SANS course is here:
